Nigeria Police Force, Lagos Command has confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old man over alleged illegal possession of firearm.
The command’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos.
He said that the suspect was arrested by officers of the Safer Highways Unit during a stop-and-search operation at Alagbado area of the state.
“The suspect was arrested during a routine stop-and-search at an entry point between Lagos and Ogun states, in the Alagbado area of Lagos,” Hundeyin said.
He further stated that two other persons, who were with the suspect on the same motorcycle, took to their heels.
The police spokesman said that when the suspect’s bag was searched, a Chinese-made pistol was recovered, adding that efforts were on to arrest the fleeing suspects.
Hundeyin added that the suspect and the exhibit had been transferred to the state police headquarters for further investigation.
