A Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Moses Oboh, says good communication and dialogue will reduce division and crisis in families, communities and the nation at large.
Oboh, who is the formator in Major Seminary of All Saints, Uhiele, Ekpoma, Edo, spoke during the Mass at Saints Joachim and Anne Catholic Church in Ijegun, Lagos, in commemoration of the 56th World Day of Social Communications celebration.
The 2022 World Communication Day with the theme, “Listening with the ears of the heart”, is commemorated every year by the Catholics across the world.
According to Oboh, good communication
requires that one party talks and the other listens and by so doing, there will be unity.
“Division in families, communities, nation is as a result of lack of dialogue, lack of communication, lack of listening.
“Listening requires dedication with the mind and heart, we are called to listen with the ears of the heart, knowing that the other person has something to offer.
“Remove all distractions from good listening, such only brings about crisis and chaos,” he said.
Oboh advised that wives must learn to listen to their husbands and not claim equality of leadership.
“When the woman takes the role of the boss, there will be chaos, even the children will not speak if there’s no listening ear in the home.
“But when there is dialogue, there would be progress because there would be good room for listening.
“We must learn to listen to one another if we want progress in our homes, families and nation at large.
“When we relate together, it brings about reconciliation, unity, peace, progress and advancement,” he noted.
He, therefore, called on everyone to listen to one another, sit together to relate , seek for forgiveness and always communicate all problems without grudges for a progressive nation.
