Mr Joshua Amoko of Jesus the King Church, Ilorin has called on Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to focus more on youth empowerment and development rather than training old persons in the society.
Amoko, who gave the advise in Ilorin on Friday in an interview with our correspondent said youths deserved special attention.
According to him, youths are expected to determine the economy of the country if well equipped.
“For Nigeria economy to grow, there is need to empower youths. When youths are happy, the country’s economy will flourish.
“Provide jobs for youths instead of focusing on market women alone; empower them with working tools and financial support to be self dependent.
“Government alone cannot take care of the youths; it’s everybody’s responsibility. When youths are jobless, there is chances for increase in crime rate,” he said.
The cleric however called on youths to add value to their selves and stop waiting for government to do everything.
