The Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria (CITN) on Tuesday inaugurated its first executive members for the Katsina State chapter, and also 43rd district society.
The CITN President/Chairman, Mr. Adesina Adebayo during the inauguration in Katsina, said no fewer than 25,749 of its members were contributing to the development of the tax system in the country.
According to him, “At present, CITN has about 25,749 members actively contributing to the development of the NIgerian tax system and by extension the economy.
“As a reward for this, the core essence of CITN, which is founded on developing the tax profession, is progressively being achieved.
“The concept behind District Societies is to provide a formal platform for members to collectively organise and make impact at the local levels.
“This is mainly by selling the activities of the Institute and portraying its good image to all and sundry.
“Let me put on record that District Societies contribute significantly for the attainment of the aspirations of the Chartered Institute of taxation which hinged on developing and sustaining professionalism in the NIgerian tax system.
“I theretore, congratulate members of the ClTN Katsina and District Society for their vibrance and maintenance of the momentum for building the tax profession through an innovative society model.”
He particularly congratulated the newly-elected Chairman, Alhaj Mustapha Muhammad-Sirajo, and other executive members for being found worthy by their members to pilot the affairs of the District Society.
According to the CITN President/Chairman, their election is a repose of confidence by members.
“I urge you to work assiduously and selflessly to make this district a point of reference among the district societies in the shortest possible time.
“Members will be looking up to you for direction and responsive leadership, and I believe you won’t let them down,” he said.
In his acceptance speech, the CITN Chairman, Katsina Chapter, Alhaji Mustapha Muhammad-Sirajo assured of his readiness to work for the progress of the CITN.
He also pledged to carry all members along towards the success of the tax system in the state, the country and its economy.
