Traditional ruler decries attack on St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo

Oba Pius Akande, the  traditional ruler of Oka land, Owo has condemned  Sunday’s attack on St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo, Ondo State.

This is contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by Akande, who is the Asin of Oka land, on behalf of the Council of Chiefs of Oka land.

The Oba said news of the sad incident was received by the palace with rude shock, utter disdain and confusion.

He commiserated with the people and Olowo of Owo Kingdom, Oba Ajibade Ogunoye, as well as families of victims of the attack.

He also condoled with the Catholic Church across the country, particularly His Lordship, Most Rev. Jude Arogundade, the Bishop of Ondo diocese.

Recalls that the attack on worshipers at the Saint Francis Catholic Church Owa-Iuwa Owo left many dead and scores injured.

While commiserating with the people of Ondo State, Akande commended Gov. Rotimi Akeredolu for his irrepressible stand on security of lives and property in the state.

He, however, urged the governor not to relent in his efforts, describing the attack as targeted at weakening his resolve to secure the state.

Akande urged the governor to initiate a full scale investigation into the act.
