The Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has urged Nigerians to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them exercise their civic rights of electing good quality leaders.
Abdullahi made the appeal in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Mr Jibrin Gwamna, to newsmen in Lafia on Sunday.
He said the exercise of constitutional civic rights would also strengthen and sustain the country’s democracy.
Abdullahi described the democracy day as unique and historic in the journey of the nation and worth celebrating.
The Nasarawa state number three citizen felicitated with President Muhammadu Buhari, Gov. Abdullahi Sule and the entire citizens on this year’s democracy day celebration.
He advised citizens, especially those who did not have PVCs to ensure that they get considering its benefits in the democratic dispensation.
The speaker assured that the sixth Assembly under his watch would continue to do its best in ensuring that the much needed dividends of democracy was provided to the people across the state.
He acknowledged the laudable contributions of the nation’s founding fathers whom he said their efforts would never go in vain.
Besides, Abdullahi called on citizens to keep hope alive, support government and leaders at all levels to succeed.
He also urged Nigerians to continue to pray for the nation to overcome its security and other challenges for the benefit of all.
