Nigerians need result-driven leadership not religious affiliation — Rep Hunpe

Rep. Babatunde Hunpe, representing Badagry Federal Constituency, says Nigerians need quality and result-driven leadership not religious affiliation in the presidency.

Hunpe said in a chat with our correspondent in Badagry on Monday, while reacting to the clamour for the APC presidential flagbearer, Sen. Bola Tinubu, to pick his running mate from either Muslim or Christian faith.

“We should all pray for those that will fix the country, not religion or ethnic affiliation.

“Those that God will choose for us that will fix the country should be our interest,” he said.

The lawmaker noted that when a patient gets to hospital, he will look for doctor to heal him but not on religious affiliation.

“When you are sick and being attended to and you need quick recovery, do you ask if the doctor is a Christian or Muslim?

“When developing our children, do we care to know if his teachers are Muslims or Christians?

“Even in road construction, do we care if it is being constructed by Christians or Muslims? No, good road is what we want,” he said.

On the presidential candidate of APC, the lawmaker said the choice of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the best for a new era that would take the country to greatness.

“Tinubu is a man that has touched every part of this country with his goodwill.

“He knows where our problems are, as a man that has ruled a mini Nigeria called Lagos, he knows how to go about it.

“He has said it that he is prepared and ready to hit the ground running from day one, not that he will study or see what is on ground,” he said.
