Three men, Fache Davi (38), Auwalu Haruna (35) and Shagari Adamu (40), were on Friday arraigned at an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing iron wire.
The accused persons, of unknown address, are facing a charge of stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Johnson Okunade, told the Court that the defendants committed the offence on June 9 at Odo Ado Area in Ado-Ekiti.
Okunade alleged that Fache David, a staff of Sure Protection Security Company and Auwalu Haruna, stole angle iron bending wire, fertilizer and iron rod, valued at N975,000 belonging to one Mr Niyi Atoki.
He said that Shagari Adamu and one lliyasu at large, received angle iron, knowing fully to be stolen property, belonging to the complainant.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 427 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor asked the Court for adjournment to enable him to study the case file and present his witnesses.
The accuseds, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.
Counsel to the first defendant, Mr Adefolaju Ayobioloja, while Mr Tunmise Akinwumi appeared for the second and third defendants.
Both the counsel urged the Court to grant their clients bail, with a promise that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Titilayo Ola-Olorun, granted them bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 14 for hearing.
