Mrs Nene Dung, the new chairperson of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) in Plateau, has solicited the support of her colleagues toward strengthening the chapter.
“A house divided against itself cannot stand. We must work together,” Deng said in Jos on Thursday after she was sworn in.
She appealed to female journalists in Plateau to support her team, and cautioned them against sitting on the sideline and hurling comments capable of hurting the quest for unity.
“I beg you all to bring collective ideas that will benefit the association.
“Female journalists have what it takes to take the association to great heights; we can do it,” she said.
She revealed that NAWOJ had set up a database to capture details of its members and activities to ease access to information.
Earlier, the outgoing chairperson, Jennifer Yerima, in her handover speech, congratulated the new Executive Council and tasked members to discharge their duties proactively.
Among those sworn in was Patience Aliyu, a correspondent with the News Agency of Nigeria, who was elected Financial Secretary.
