Mr Dayo Ogungbenro, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, has urged youths to play critical roles in electoral processes as Nigeria was preparing for 2023 general elections.
Ogungbenro made the plea on Thursday at a programme organised by the PDP Youth Organisation in Ibadan.
The programme tagged: “Oyo Youths Engage” was held at the Ogunlesi Hall, University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The party chairman, also urged youths to abstain from violence and play positive roles for the success of the forthcoming general elections in the state.
He advised them to emulate the good virtues of Gov. Seyi Makinde, whom, according to him, is governing the state with the fear of God and fast-tracking developmental projects in the state.
Ogungbenro said Makinde had accommodated a reasonable number of youths in his government, adding that there was need to pay him back with votes for the continuity of his good work.
Also, Mr Michael Ogunsina, the State PDP Youths leader, called on the youth wing of the party to brace up for the forthcoming general election.
Ogunsina, who observed that a larger percentage of eligible voters in the state are youths, appealed to them to repay Makinde with votes for the good work he was doing across the state.
In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Seun Fakorede, pleaded with PDP youths not to relent in working for the growth of the party in the state.
Fakorede advised youths to play active role during the 2023 general elections, saying that the youth’ massive votes would certainly enhance re-election of Makinde.
PDP youths across the 33 local government areas of the state, used the occasion to discuss issues concerning the progress of the party in the state.
