An Ilorin-based cleric, Aliyu Kamaldeen, has urged journalists on truthful and sincerity of reportage about the nation.
Kalmadeen gave the task during a prayer session of the Press Week, organised by the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in Ilorin.
He described journalists as the mouthpiece of Nigerians.
The Imam stressed that journalists are the voice of the voiceless, urging them to perform their duties with the fear of Almighty Allah.
“There are journalists that have excelled due to truthfulness in their reportage and this is because everybody will account for their deeds on the day of judgment,” he said.
The Imam prayed for peaceful coexistence among journalists, citizens of the state, and Nigeria as a whole.
Faith Adeosun of Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), WOSEM Branch, Ilorin, also urged journalists to be united with one voice and work as a team for the progress of the association.
He said that there would be more success and breakthroughs in life once there is peace and unity at home, place of work, religious organisations, and among the rulers.
The pastor advised that one major way to achieve greatness and success was through focus and determination.
He prayed for success of all the chapel endeavours and for the country in general.
