The Kwara Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has trained 28 Post-Basic Student Nurses of University Teaching Hospital Ilorin on Accident and Emergency management.
The Disaster Management Unit, under the Crisis Management Department of NSCDC, Kwara command conducted the training on Thursday in Ilorin.
The Acting Commandant, Jonah Gabriel, stated that crisis and disaster management were one of the statutory duties of NSCDC.
The acting commandant, represented by the Head of Department, Crisis Management, DCC Esther Odeniran, disclosed that the corps intends to strengthen its relationship with schools and collaborate with them on capacity building.
This also includes training, as well as intelligence sharing to improve emergency response and better service delivery to Nigerians.
He said that the main aim of the training was to educate and equip the participants with the requisite skills needed during accident and emergency situations.
The Team Leader, Oyeleye Deborah, sought the continuous support of the corps and expressed her gratitude for their readiness at ensuring that adequate knowledge was being impacted on the students.
