Eid-el-Kabir: FUNAAB VC urges Nigerians to pray for peace, progress

Prof. Kolawole Salako, Vice Chancellor,  Federal University of Agriculture (FUNAAB), Abeokuta has urged  Nigerians to continue to pray for peace, progress and development of the country.

Salako made the call in his Eid-el-Kabir goodwill message, signed by the institution’s Head of Directorate of Public Relations, Mr Kola Adepoju on Saturday in Abeokuta.
He charged Nigerians to take advantage of the festive period to reflect on the true lessons of Eid-el-Kabir which included love, compassion, sacrifice, selflessness, patience and unflinching trust in God.
The vice chancellor explained that it was important for everyone to keep reminding themselves of unparallel importance of the celebration.
“For us in the university, it is another ample opportunity to join our Muslim brothers and sisters and their counterparts all over the world to thank Allah for witnessing another Sallah celebration.
“It is my prayer that the Almighty in His benevolence shall give us the grace to witness many celebrations in peace, prosperity,  progress, development and acceptable service to Him and humanity.
“It is expedient that we imbibe  the virtues just mentioned and cultivate them in our lives in order to impact meaningfully on humanity,” he said.
Salako assured that the school management would not relent in its genuine drive to foster, sustain and strengthen religious harmony and peaceful co-existence.
He admonished members of staff and students of the university and citizens at large to shun rancor and acrimony.
He reiterated that the development and progress of FUNAAB and Nigeria, in general, depended largely on love and unity among stakeholders, irrespective of political and religious affiliations.
