Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Friday, visited the residence of the late House of Assembly member, Ademola Popoola, who died on Tuesday.
Popoola died at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, after a brief illness.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Popoola represented Ibadan SouthEast State Constituency at the Assembly.
Makinde led some members of his cabinet and principal officers of the State legislature, on the condolence visit to the Orita-Challenge area residence of late Popoola.
He commiserated with the deceased’s wife, children and other family members.
He pledged to give necessary support to the wife – Zenab – and the two children.
The governor said the two children would be enrolled in a Foundation he established for their education expenses.
He consoled the widow to take the demise of her husband as the will of God, saying God knows best.
In the condolence register placed at the entrance of the residence, the governor wrote “This is star cut short in his prime. May Honourable Popoola’s soul rest in peace, amen.”
The Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Debo Ogundoyin, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Segun Ogunwuyi and Sen. Hosea Agboola were part of the government delegation on the visit.
