Sen. Aliyu Wamakko (APC-Sokoto North ), has donated assorted food items to the victims of banditry attacks in Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
A statement by Wamakko’s Media office said on Tuesday in Abuja that the items distributed included tones of rice, maize and garri.
Abubakar said that the beneficiaries were drawn from all the communities of the eleven wards of the area.
Presenting the materials, Wamakko, who was represented by his Director of Administration, Alhaji Almustapha Alkali, said the benefactor, “was deeply touched by the rising cases of banditry attacks in some areas of the state.
Wamakko was also reported as sympathising with the people of Illela Local Government over the unfortunate incidents and prayed Allah to prevent the reoccurrence of such ungodly acts.
He added, “the succour brought to them was just to put some smiles in the faces of the victims.
“He called on the other well-to-do individuals in the society to come to the aid of these victims, so as to provide them with more shelters and relief materials to ease their suffering”.
Wamakko added that similar gestures would soon be extended to other communities in the state who were facing same challenges.
The items were received by the APC Zonal Vice Chairman of the party in charge of Sokoto East Senatorial District, Alhaji Usman Giwa.
He thanked Wamakko for the assistance and pledged to do justice during the distribution of the foodstuffs.
Giwa described Wamakko as “an exemplary leader who has the needy at his heart, all the times”.
The 105 victims were selected from Masasa, Gidan Katta, kalmalo, Gaidau, Tafki and Damba villages of the area.
Each of them was given one bag of rice, maize and garri to cushion the effect of their hardships.
Some of the beneficiaries thanked the Senator for the gesture and prayed Allah to reward him abundantly.
