NSCDC arrests 8 suspects for stealing 3 motorcycles in Kwara

The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has arrested eight suspects for stealing and conspiring to sell stolen motorcycles.

The suspects that stole the motorcycles were Adifarin Sunday, 35; Taiwo Elijah, 26; and Wasiu Ismail, 26.

The Spokesman of the command, Mr Ayeni Olasunkanmi, told newsmen in Ilorin on Monday that the suspects were arrested at Oro area.

Olasunkanmi said that one Abolaji Taofeek of Oro area had on July 15, reported at Oro Division about his stolen motorcycle and that of his neighbour (Rubber Rubber).

He said that investigation conducted led to the arrest of the suspects on July 15, and further investigation conducted revealed the sellers of the stolen motorcycles.

The spokesman said that the suspects that sold the motorcycles included Olasunkanmi Adebisi, Olanrewaju Ismail, Mutiu Adeleke, Ogunbiyi Johnson and Bashir Ishola, while the remaining three were still at large.

“Two motorcycles were stolen in Oro, while one was stolen in Ogbomosho and two suspects were arrested in Oro and the third suspect was arrested in Ilorin.

“The first suspect, Sunday, resides in Oro and invited the two other suspects to carry out the crime,” he said.

The NSCDC spokesman said that two of the stolen motorcycles were sold for N260,000 (N130,000 each) while its cost price was N550,000 each.

Speaking to our correspondent, the first suspect (Sunday) confessed to had stolen the motorcycles at midnight from the complainant’s residence at Oro.

“Brother Olasunkanmi sold the motorcycles for N130,000 each and we gave him and his boys N30,000 for their services.

“We were caught in Oro on Friday, July 22, when Elijah invited me for another operation in Oro,” he said.

The suspects however denied stealing the third motorcycle recovered in Ilorin from Ismail’s custody, while Ismail also denied the allegation.
