The Kwara State University (KWASU) has dissociated itself from the views expressed in a banner by Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), KWASU Branch, during the solidarity rally by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).
A statement signed by Dr Kikelomo Sallee, the institution’s Registrar, said the allegations contained in the banner do not represent the views of KWASU Management and should be disregarded.
“The attention of the KWASU Management has been drawn to the banner displayed by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), KWASU Branch, during the solidarity rally by the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC).

“The University, since inception, has enjoyed the support and goodwill of its proprietor, the Kwara State Government.
”The University has many capital projects undertaken by the Government.
”Recently, the Government under the leadership of Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq committed huge funds to the completion of the Osi and Ilesa Baruba campuses of the University.
“The University has also been assured of intervention funds once the dwindling finances of the Government improves,” the Registrar said.
She added that the university appreciated all these gestures of the State Government and would continue to support its efforts in positioning the institution for local and international competitiveness.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that KWASU branch of ASUU on Tuesday joined the solidarity rally by the NLC, urging the Federal Government to end the protracted strike by the ASUU, SSANU and NASU in federal universities.
