Kano State Government has approved the release of N865.4 million for the payment of outstanding scholarship allowances to students across the 44 local governments of the state.
The Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, said this during a news conference in Kano on Thursday.
According to Garba, 40,494 students would benefit from the scholarships.
Garba explained that N836.2 million was for the payment of scholarship, while N29.1 million would be paid for logistics.
The commissioner said that this indicated 50 per cent increment of scholarship allowances to students.
He said that Karaye Emirate, which had eight local governments with 3,094 students, would get N61.4 million allowances and N4.02 million as logistics.
Garba said that Bichi Emirate with nine local governments and 3,494 students, would receive N71.2 million as outstanding allowances and N4.02 million for logistics.
The commissioner said that 4,015 students from Rano Emirate with 10 local governments would receive N78.3 million and N4. 02 million for allowances and logistics respectively.
According to him, Gaya Emirate, which has nine local governments with 4,260 students, would receive N86.2 million as outstanding allowances and N4.02 million for logistics.
He said that Kano Emirate with eight local governments had 26, 086 students who would receive N538.9 million, while N13.1 million was for logistics.
