Two women, on Thursday, appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing goods worth N1.5 million from a supermarket.
The defendants: Janet Ene, 25, a sales woman, of 15, Oredapo St., Shasaha, and Ann Uloko, 25, a cashier, of 79, Adealu St., Agege, Lagos, are being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, ASP Raji Akeem, told the court that the offences were committed on July 14, at Blenco Supermarket in Shasha area of Lagos.
The prosecutor said that the two defendants, who are staffers of the supermarket, were caught through the closed circuit television (CCTV), where they were stealing some electronics and beverages, valued at N1.5 million.
The offences, according to him, contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs B.O. Osunsanmi, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
