Bayelsa Queens have reached the ongoing Federation, Aiteo Cup Round of 16 without kicking a ball.
The team from Bayelsa walked over Naija Amazons of Niger to reach the next round after Amazons confirmed their inability to honuour the match.
According to the Match Commissioner, Innocent Amuzie, Amazons informed the Enugu State FA that they could not come for the match.
Amuzie stated that it was agreed at the pre-match meeting that players and officials shall arrive at the venue by 2.30 pm, while the match would kick off by 4pm.
“Bayelsa Queens were at the venue by 2.30pm but thier opponent was nowhere to be found and since it is 4.pm, we cannot help than to perform the normal thing.
“Naija Amazons called the Enugu State Football authorities and they communicated to him and that led to the walkover.
“Though, the final decision is not mine but that of the organisers who sent me to oversee the match.
“I will have to inform them of my observations.
“I believe that the authorities will do justice to the match in line with the rules and regulations of the game and that is what I can say for now,” Amuzie said.
