An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded two unemployed men at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre for allegedly having in their possession a locally-made gun.
The magistrate, Mrs O. O. Odufuyi, refused to grant the defendants’ plea; but she ruled that they should be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until Sept. 6, for Director of Public Prosecution’s advice (DPP).
The defendants are; Yusuf Mohammed, 20, and Hassan Mohammed, 20, they live at Flower Mill, Odogunyan area, Ikorodu, Lagos. They are being tried for conspiracy and having in their possession, a locally-made gun.
The prosecutor, Insp Glory Goodday, told the court that the offences were committed on July 21 at Imota area of Ikorodu in Lagos.Srate.
Goodday said that the police stopped the defendants and one other currently at large on their way and they demanded to search them because their appearances looked suspicious.
The prosecutor said that in the process of searching their bags, the third man ran away.
“A locally -made gun was found in their bag, and they were arrested,’’ she said.
The offences according to the prosecutor contravene Sections 298 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
