Police in Lagos have arrested a 41-year-old driver for allegedly selling off his employer’s N36 million Hilux Car.
The command’ s Public Relations Officer (PRO), SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who confirmed the arrest in a statement on Thursday in Lagos, added that the suspect was three weeks old on the job when he masterminded the alleged crime.
Hundeyin said that the command’s operatives also arrested two other suspects in connection with the alleged crime.
The PRO named the suspects to include the driver’s guarantor and another contracted to allegedly demobilise the car system before perpetuating the alleged crime.
He explained that the suspects were arrested within the Ojodu axis of the state while on their way to dispose off the 2021 model Toyota Hilux Pickup Car, which market value was N36 million, for N20 million.
The PRO said, “The arrest followed the launch of a swift investigation into the matter immediately a report of the stealing was received.
“The suspects will be arraigned at the end of investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, Mr Abiodun Alabi, assures residents of Lagos that the command will continue to work towards the decimation of crime and criminality in the centre of excellence.”
