The Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotosho, on Sunday declared that the state was in support of Seyi Akinwunmi’s ambition to become president of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Omotosho said this in an interview with our correspondent on the sidelines of the media briefing of Akinwunmi’s presidential bid held at Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa, Lagos.
Reports have it that the NFF 1st Vice President, Akinwunmi, has declared to run for the presidency scheduled for Friday, Sept. 30, in Benin-City, Edo State.
Akinwunmi is hoping to take over the baton from the incumbent, Amaju Pinnick, who came into office eight years ago
Talking on the support for Akinwunmi, who is also the Chairman, Lagos State Football Association (LSFA), Omotosho said it was for the good of Nigerian football.
“The support for Akinwunmi is not just for Lagosians, but it is for all lovers of football all over Nigeria.
“Nigerians have great passion for football and it must be administered by people of integrity and people who can see into the future.
“We want improvement in our football, so everyone not just Lagosians are in full support of Akinwunmi because of his credentials.
“Some people have described Akinwunmi’s credentials as intimidating, but I will just say that it is putting a round peg in a round hole,” he said.
