Army organises inter-brigade combat proficiency competition

The 3 Division of the Nigerian Army, Rukuba, near Jos, has organised its 2022 Inter Brigade Combat Proficiency Competition for the various formations within the cantonment.

Declaring the competition open on Monday, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the General Officer Commanding (GOC), said that the competition was part of its training aimed at improving the capacity of its officers.
Ali, who is also the Commander, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), said that the exercise was in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) in ensuring a professional Nigerian Army that would carry out the assigned task of securing Iives and property.
He added that the competition would enable officers to be fit and ready to confront the myriad of security challenges facing the country.
”Nigeria is currently bedeviled by a myriad of security challenges such as kidnappings for ransom,  banditry, and insurgency, among others.
”In order to address these challenges,  the Nigerian Army has continued to upscale training and combat activities for optimal performance.
”So, this competition is organised to develop the spirit of teamwork, improve competencies and skills to accomplish assigned tasks,” he said.
Ali advised the participating officers to take the competition seriously, insisting that it would improve their knowledge and spirit of cooperation to tackle insecurity.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event, held at the division’s shooting range at Miango,  near Jos, would end on Sept. 9.
The formations participating in the competition include; 6 Brigade Jalingo, 23 Brigade Yola, 33 Brigade Bauchi, and the division’s Garrison, Rukuba.
