Septuagenarian drags tailor to Court, seeks recovery of N84,000, others

A septuagenarian, Sani Umar, who lived within the Kaduna metropolis, on Thursday dragged a tailor, Musa Tela, to a Sharia Court sitting in Magajin Gari, Kaduna state, seeking recovery of N84,000, two sewing machines, and a generator.

He said the N84,000 was for default of 21 months of payment for shop rent.

Umar said he also gave Tela four chairs; a cupboard, a stool, a pair of scissors and a pressing iron, and three other plastic chairs.

He said he would not recall the date he gave out the item to Tela for hire, but that he returned one sewing machine, a drawer table, and a pressing iron.

He prayed the court to recover the hired items from Tela and order him to pay the rent arrears of 24 months.

Responding, the defendant, Tela, through his Counsel, Yunus Olakulehin, denied all the items and money, being claimed by the complainant.

“We don’t know him, we have never seen him before anywhere,” he said.

The Judge, Murtala Nasir, after listening to both parties, adjorned the case to November 1.

He ordered the complainant to come along with witnesses to his claims on the adjorned date.
