Israel Chukwuyem, also known as Chuks the General, says he is partnering with Blessed Hope Foundation for talent hunt for upcoming comedians at the forthcoming Abuja comedy challenge slated for December.
Chuks said this at a news conference on Friday in Abuja, that potential comedians from different part of the country could apply to be part of the comedy talent hunt.
He said different comedians with different talents and humor from all parts of the world could apply for the challenge, adding that the intention is to budding comedians to get first, second and third positions to help their comedy careers.
He said that the winner would go with a N3 million gift, adding that the first runner up would have to learn from the winner on the job.
This, he said, is to enable the winner to mentor the first runner up for one year until the next challenge.
“I know how long it took me to rise on the ladder even though I am not where I want to be.
“I see a lot of young people trying to also come up, but it is a little bit difficult for them, one of the things that helped me in my career was that people took me to events where I was able to show myself.
According to him, with the talent hunt, “I want to also bring up stars to come up, I approached Blessed Hope Foundation and I spoke to them about Abuja comedy challenge.”
He said “we will audition talents; the first audition will be on 21 Oct. and the second edition will be a weekend in November.
He said the final grand finale would be on Christmas day, adding that it would take place in Transcorp Hilton and would be biggest Christmas show.
He said the winner’s N3 million naira worth of gifts, will be N1 million cash and the other N2 million would be spread in form of mentorship classes and logistics.
This, he said, would help the winner attend other events, including the comedy show of the the axe comedian, Ayo Makun, tagged A Y live in Port Harcourt, Lagos and Abuja.
He said that the judges for the competition would be selected fairly. They will include a popular comedian, and actress.
“The winner of the comedy challenge must be spontaneous, we need fresh comedian, the issue about the second runner up is not on the table for now.”
Reports have it that the partner, Blessed Hope Foundation, is a gathering of private individuals who are using their money to help others.
