Two friends were on Thursday docked in a Grade I Area Court, Kado, Abuja, for alleged phone snatching.
The police charged Ghali Ibrahim, 18 and Ismail Abdullahi, 24 with criminal conspiracy and theft.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecution Counsel, Ms Helen Ochai told the court that the complainant, Sunday Oguche of Phase 4, Nyanya, Abuja reported the matter at the Life Camp Police Station, on Sept. 27.
The prosecution said that the defendant snatched an Infinix cellphone belonging to Oguche from his car at the Life Camp junction in Abuja.
She further alleged that Ibrahim then threw the phone to Abdullahi, and they both took to their heels.
Ochai added that the said phone was found in Abdullahi’s possession, and it was recovered from him.
She said the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 97 and 289 of the Penal Code Law.
The judge, Muhammed Wakili admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each and one surety each in like sum.
Wakili ordered that the sureties who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, must provide a printout of their BVN from the bank they operate with, to be verified by a court official.
He also adjourned the matter until Dec.20 for hearing.
