41-year-old man, Musa Adebayo, was on Thursday remanded in correctional centre by a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, following his plea of guilty to fraud charge.
Adebayo, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, adjourned the case until Nov.16 for review of facts of the case and sentencing.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, ASP. Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in 2012 in front of Ayo Ni O Cherubim and Séraphin Church along Lagos Badagry Expressway.
Okuoimose said the defendant allegedly collected the sum of N135,000 under the pretence that he would construct two containers shops for one John Hungbo, which he never did.
He said that the defendant converted the money to his own use by stealing the money.
“The defendant ran away for almost 10 years only to reappear in the same location some months back.
“The offences contravened Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal law of Lagos State, 2015,” he said.
