Deputy Speaker commends Buhari for signing FMC Bill

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rep. Ahmed Wase, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing the Federal Medical Centre, (FMC) Wase, Bill in Plateau.

The Deputy Speaker said this in a statement on Thursday in Abuja.
Wase said that the centre was one of the legacy legislations of the administration, adding that the law provided a legal framework for all the existing FMC across the country.

He added that the new FMC, Wase, Plateau, was charged with the responsibility to provide facilities for diagnostic, curative, preventive and rehabilitative services in medical treatment.

Wase said that it would also help to construct, equip, maintain and operate such training schools and similar institutions and provide the medical centres with appropriate staff.

He said that FMC Wase, would help to construct, equip, maintain and operate such clinics, outpatient departments, laboratories, research or experimental stations and other similar institutions.

Wase said the effective functioning of the centre would ensure standards of treatment and care were provided at all establishments under its control.

Wase, who represents Wase Federal Constituency of Plateau, also congratulated the entire leadership and members of the 9th National Assembly for the feat.

The Bill was assented to by the President on Wednesday.
