Some Nigerian professors and their Italian and United Kingdom counterparts will from Tuesday engage in discussions on disruptive innovations for societal transformation.
The discussion will be at the annual International onference of Caleb University, Imota, Lagos State, from Tuesday to Friday.
In a statement on Saturday, Dr Elvis Otobo, Deputy Director, Public Relations and Marketing of the institution, said that arrangements had been concluded for the conference.
Otobo said that the conference would have the theme: “Disruptive Innovation Conference (CUDIC)#Future Forward: Innovative Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for Sustainable Development”.
According to Otobo, Caleb University aims at contributing its quota in pioneering disruptive innovations in all areas of human endeavour for accelerated societal development.
He added that the conference aimed at raising leaders who would be major players in positive transformations in various fields.
Otobo said that the conference would attract participants from around the globe, with Olarenwju Olaniyan, a Professor of Economics, University of Ibadan, as the keynote speaker.
According to him, Prof. Bola Akinterinwa, a former Director-General of the Nigeria Institute for International Affairs, would be the special guest at the event.
“We are also expecting Hon. Bolaji Abdulahi, a former Minister of Youth Development; Bayo Amole, a Professor of Architecture, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife; and Filipa Correia, International Tax Adviser, European Union, as lead speakers.
“A former Vice President, International Association of Lawyers Hakeem Adeniyi Ajonbadi, Associate Professor of Human Resource Management, Organisation Development and Entrepreneurship, Birmingham City University UK, would also present lead papers.
” We are also expecting lead papers from Hansatu Adegbite, Executive Director, Women in Management, Businesses and public Service (WIMBIZ); and Piergiorgio Valente, a Professor of European Union, Tax Law Link Campus University, Rome, among others,” he said.
Otobo added that Mr Tokunbo Wahab, Special Adviser on Education to Gov. Babajide Sanwo -Olu of Lagos State, would declare the conference open, alongside other dignitaries.
He quoted the Vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Nosa Owens-Ibie, as saying that the event wouod be memorable.
Otobo said that Dr Oladega Adebogun, Proprietor and Managing Director of Caleb Group of Schools, had invested up to N30 million in annual scholarship as a strategy to build strong tomorrow’s leaders.
“As an astute educationist and erudite entrepreneur, the visitor to the university ( Adebogun) has consistently demonstrated his love in impacting and transforming the lives of children for God and for humanity,” he said.
Reports have it that the conference holds annually to proffer solutions to societal problems.
