A house help, Kadija Suleiman,31 was arraigned in a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday for allegedly stealing her employer’s 2,290 dollars (one million Naira equivalent) and other valuables.
Suleiman, who resides in Kabala Doki area of Kaduna was charged by the police with two counts bordering on conspiracy and stealing.
Insp. Chidi Leo, the Prosecutor, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct. 2, at Kabala Costain in Kaduna.
According to Leo, the defendant allegedly broke into the room of her employer, Hajiya Habiba Kamal and stole the money, six pieces of wrappers valued at N200,000 and a Samsung iPad.
He said the police was able to track and arrest the defendant at Ungwan Dosa, Kaduna.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 241 and 271 of the Kaduna State Penal Code, 2017.
However, She pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Ibrahim Emmanuel, the Magistrate, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate said that one of the sureties must be a blood relation to the defendant residing within the court’s jurisdiction.
The case has been adjourned until Nov. 28, for hearing.
