The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) office in Yaba, Lagos was sealed off on Wednesday following a morning fire in the premises.
According to a NAN correspondent, who visited the scene around 11.00a.m. after the fire was put out, the entry into the building was restricted to visitors, except for express permission given to few.
The correspondent said that details of the cause of the fire still remained sketchy but it started on the second floor.
Mrs Moyosola Adesina, the council’s, Acting Head, Public Affairs, said in a statement that all important documents and records were intact and no life was lost.
According to her, the fire started in the early hours and was swiftly put under control by a combined team of firefighters.
An anonymous source said that members of the management were inspecting the affected area.
