A student, David Terhemba, have been remanded in a correction centre for alleged armed robbery and cultism by the Makurdi Magistrates’ Court on Thursday.
The presiding Judge, Magistrate Ajuma Igama, did not take the plea of the suspect for want of jurisdiction.
Insp Stella Ngbede, the Prosecution Counsel, told the court that the case was reported by Ogah Joshua, Samuel Alexander and Dada Abdulkarim.
According to her, the complainants reported that Terhemba and two others broke into their houses and robbed them at gunpoint.
Ngbede said that Terhemba and his accomplice stole one L.G Plasma Tv 42-inche, one JVC television, one iPhone 6x, Infinix S4 and Tecno Spark 8c .
She said that the stolen items were recovered from the suspect except for the Tecno Spark 8c.
Ngbede also said that investigation into the matter was still on-going and prayed the court for an adjournment.
According to her, the offence contravened the provisions of sections 6(b), 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the robbery and firearms special provision act 2004 and Section 11 of the Abduction, Hostage-Taking, Kidnapping, secret cult and similar activities prohibition laws of 2017.
The Judge adjourned the matter until Nov. 23, for further investigation.
