Kwara CP pays unscheduled visit to residents

Mr Paul Odama, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara, paid an unscheduled visit to the residents of Alagbado and Gaa-Osibi area of Ilorin to restore their confidence, following reported cases of kidnapping in the area on Wednesday.
The CP made an on the spot assessment to the communities in a bid to assess the security situation and strategy to be in place to rebuild the confidence of the residents.
Also, he explained to the residents what the police has done and is still doing to stop the alleged invasion of criminal elements into the fast developing communities.
Odama added that he ordered the deployment of three patrol teams comprising conventional and men of tactical teams of the command to the areas, immediately he got wind of the complaints by the residents
However, the effort drastically reduced fear and apprehensions in the minds of the residents.
Alfaa Ola Shehu, the Head of the Community of Osibi, thanked the commissioner of police for the surprise visit and for the speed by which police patrol teams were deployed to the area.
According to him, since the arrival of the police teams, the residents have been sleeping with their two eyes closed.
He also stated that members of the communities were ready to support the policemen with necessary materials that could enhance their duty.
The representatives of the community joined the police boss to patrol the area and showed the area they do not fear the criminals used in accessing the communities.
Furthermore, Odama assured the residents of the determination of the police to end criminal activities in the area in particular and the state in general.
Also, he advised the leadership of the communities to work with the police deployed to the area by giving useful information at all times and report to him any conduct by the policemen that is at variance with their rules of engagement.
He promised to keep paying unscheduled visits like this to assess the situation and review strategies.
The CP, however urged the residents not to panic or plan relocating from the community.
He said that the place is now safe and peaceful for people to live and do their businesses without any fear of attack and intimidation.
