A 42-year-old okada rider, Samuel Ukeyima was on Wednesday, arraigned in a Makurdi Chief Magistrates’ Court, for alleged breach of agreement.
Ukeyima, who lives Behind Alhaji Dash Street, Ankpa Ward, Makurdi, was charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The prosecutor, Insp. Jonah Uletu, told the court that one James Orshio, filed the complaint at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Makurdi on Oct. 14.
Uletu told the court that Orshio bought a motorcycle and gave it to the defendant for commercial purposes on July 12, with an agreement to remit N7,000 weekly.
“The defendant agreed to pay N7,000 weekly to the complainant.
“The complainant further stated that the defendant went missing since he collected the motorcycle,” he said.
The prosecutor said the defendant was arrested, and during police investigation, he confessed to committing the crime.
According to him, the offences contravene sections 311 and 321 of the Penal Code Laws of Benue, 2004.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Roseline Iyorshe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and a surety in like sum.
Iyorshe adjourned the case to Dec. 1, 2022 for further mention.
