Pastor Wilson Akubo, Resident Pastor at Family Worship Centre (FWC) Abuja, on Sunday admonished, especially men, to strive to live honourable lives that is pleasing to God and worthy of emulation by others.
Akudo said this at the end of the 2022 FWC Anchor Men’s conference themed: “Man of Honour’’.
He said both men and women must strive to consistently and morally live upright lifestyles through their words and actions for a better society.
According to him, children are the future of the Church; women are the beauty of the Church, but men are the pillars of the Church and they must strive to protect their honour.
“A man of consistent lifestyle, who is morally upright in thoughts, in words and in action is admired, respected and judged righteous by people around him.
“He may be born into honour; be appointed into honour; get elected into honour; buy honour; receive honour; acquire honour, marry into honour or serve into honour.
“It is the decision to consistently live uprightly, however, that would sustain the honour, because a man can be in honour today and lose it tomorrow if he fails to be consistently and morally upright,’’ he said.
Akudo added that men must learn to be diligent, skilful, competent and hardworking to earn honour of blessings from God and from society.
He stressed that hard work had never killed anybody, but laziness had kept many away from their blessings.
Akudo urged both men and women to strive to have integrity and to learn to keep promises made, especially the part of the Christian marriage vows that says: “till death do us apart’’.
He noted that it was sad that many married people were alive but living apart in spite promising to be together until death separated them.
He said also that there was a need for anyone who sought honour to abstain from sin and the appearance of all evils.
“Sin and honour do not dwell together. According to 1Thessalonians 5: 22: “Abstain from every form of evil, withdraw and keep away from it.
“Also in the Book of 1Peter 2:11, the Holy Bible says: “Beloved, I urge you as pilgrims and strangers in this world to abstain from the sensual urges, those dishonourable desires that wage war against the soul.
“As a man you must grow the honour of staying with only your wife; keep the marriage vow of `till death do us apart’; be kind and be generous,’’ he said.
Akudo also appealed to men to learn to honour God with their skills, gifts and substances and to learn to ascribe their greatness and achievements to God in order to be exalted.
He also urged both men and woman to have absolute faith and believe in God by trusting His living word and putting God first in everything.
Earlier, Mr Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and the President of the FWC Anchor Men’s Fellowship, appealed to men to imbibe all attributes of Jesus Christ.
He advised men to be good role models to become men of honour.
A Senior Pastor of FWC, Pastor Sarah Omakwu, appealed to men to love their wives and children and to treat them with love, honour and respect in spite of societal pressure to behave otherwise.
