The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has advised prospective corps members deployed to Ekiti for the one year mandatory service to respect the traditions and customs of their host communities.
The Coordinator of the NYSC in the state, Mrs Mary Chikezie, gave the advice, on Monday at the Permanent NYSC Orientation Camp in Emure-Ekiti, ahead of the inauguration of the 2022 Batch C corps members posted to the state.
Chikezie harped on the need for the youths to be obedient to customs, traditions, rules and laws entrenched in the society.
According to her, there are laid down laws and restrictions everywhere and being members of the NYSC scheme does not confer on you exceptional privileges.
The coordinator said that in view of these, prospective corps members must act in accordance to these laws, particularly the NYSC bye-laws.
On the use of social media, she enjoined corps members to maintain high level of discipline and avoid posting things that could embarrass individual corps members and the scheme as a corporate body.
Chikezie also urged the corps members to embrace peace, shun religious intolerance and be security conscious at all times.
