The Police, on Tuesday arraigned three persons in an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court twice, over alleged housebreaking and stealing.
The defendants, Ibrahim Ajiboye, 12, Asaolu Idiat, 17, and Sunday Ajiboye, 52, in the first case, are facing a two-count charge each of house breaking and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendants, and others at large, committed the offences on Oct. 22, at 11.00 a.m. in Ikole-Ekiti.
Leramo alleged that the defendants and their accomplices, broke into the house of one Oguntuase David.
He told the court that the defendants stole a cash sum of N100,000, four pairs of Ankara, and other fabrics valued at N20,000, belonging to David.
According to him, the offences contravene sections 322(b) and 302 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti, 2021.
Leramo asked the court for an adjournment, to enable him to study the case file and assemble witnesses.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Counsel to the defendants, Mr Gbenga Ariyibi, urged the court to grant them bail, with a promise that they would not jump same.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, in his ruling, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
In the second case, the defendants were in the same vein docked over alleged house breaking and stealing in the same court.
Leramo also informed the court that the defendants, and others at large, committed the offences on Oct.19, at 2.00 p.m., in Oye-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendants also broke into the house of one Bamigboye Temitope.
He said they stole a Tecno Spark 5, valued at N55,000, Tecno Spark K8, valued at N40,000, belonging to Temitope.
According to him, the offences contravene sections 322(b) and 302 (1) (a) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti, 2021.
The defendants, however, also pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Afunso, also in the second ruling, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety each in like sum.
He further adjourned the case until Dec. 5, for continuation of hearing.
