Nigeria Police Force, Lagos command on Thursday arraigned the administrator of Olorunda Estate Residents Association (OLERA), Alapere-Ketu, Lagos, Oluyemi Abayomi, for allegedly stealing N3.9 million.
Abayomi, 47, resident of Adepitan Street, Ogudu, Lagos, is standing trial in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court on a two-count of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp Donjour Perezi, told the court that the defendant, being the administrator of the estate’s CDA, on Aug. 5, stole the sum of N3.9 million entrusted in his care.
He said the President of the Olorunda Estate Residents Association, Mr Olalekan Oladunjoye, reported the incident at the Area Commander’s office, Area H, Ogudu, on behalf of the residents.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendant stole the money donated by residents for the development of the estate.
He said that the defendant failed to deposit the money into the estate’s bank account.
The offences contravened sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs M.O. Tanimola, granted defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Tanimola adjourned the matter until Oct. 28, for further hearing.
