Jeannie Mai and rapper Jeezy ‘apply for a marriage license’ nearly one year after announcing engagement

Finally, after almost one year of announcing their engagement, wedding bells are ringing for celebrity couple Jeannie Mai and Jeezy.

TMZ, gathered that the couple filed for a marriage license in Fulton County, Georgia, on Monday, March 29, meaning they have to tie the knot within six months.

The “Real” co-host and the rapper began dating in late 2018 and got engaged in March 2020 after their trip to Vietnam was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Jeannie and Jay were set for a trip to Vietnam this April. What Jeannie didn’t know is that Jay was planning to propose,” her camp told People, noting Jeezy surprised Mai with a quarantine date night in his home filled with Vietnamese food and decor.”

The potential wedding news comes after Jeezy lost his mother Sandra Rose last month.

Jeezy’s mother’s death came months after his beloved wife-to-be Jeannie also suffered severe health problems.

Mai had to quit Dancing With the Stars last fall amid medical challenges that led her to undergo emergency surgery on her throat. She was hospitalized with a condition called epiglottitis.

This will be Mai’s second marriage, as she split from ex-husband Freddy Harteis in 2017 after 10 years of marriage. Jeezy is the father of three children from previous relationships.
