Mavin Records golden boy, Rema, has put a name on his sound. The talented musician informs his audience that he’d like them to call his style of music “AfroRave”.
This is coming two years after his introduction into the music industry by Don Jazzy and D’Prince. Rema joined Mavin Records after he signed a deal with a subsidiary of the music company, Jonzing World, in 2018.
Rema, known for his authentic music style that has a blend of Afrobeat, Trap and Indian tunes, said his sound – AfroRave is a sub-genre of Afrobeats for better comprehension of music pundits and critics.
The 21 years old tweeted on Saturday, May 22, 2021, that “From this day my sound will be called ‘Afrorave’ a sub-genre of Afrobeat, my Album seals this claim for good”.
“My sound y’all called Indian, everybody doing it now“, he added.
Rema, born Divine Ikubor, rose to eminence following the release of the song “Iron Man”, which appeared on Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist.
