Barely 48 hours after the release of his remixed song ‘Essence’ featuring Canadian singer Justin Bieber, Nigerian music sensation, Ayodeji Ibrahim Balogun, known professionally as Wizkid, is set to smash records, as it has already hit the US Top 30 chart.
Wizkid continues to break grounds as very recently, his concert at the 20, 000 capacity O2 Arena in UK was sold out within 12 minutes.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian music star in October 2020, released his fourth album, ‘Made in Lagos’, which has enjoyed critical acclaim.
Star boy as he is fondly called gave his fans a lovely surprise on Friday, August 13 2021 by dropping a remix to the “song of the summer” which originally featured Nigerian songstress Tems.
The remix saw Justin Bieber add some spice to the Afrobeats smash tune.
Within 23 hours of its release, the remix has moved up to the 30th position on the US Apple music chart while it sits comfortably in the 21st position on Apple music’s global music chart.
Also, it hit a million YouTube views in less than a day, making it the fourth song to do that on Wizzy catalogues to hit such milestone.
This is coming after Saweetie hailed Wizkid’s recent release as one of the best.
Saweetie could not stop purring about the album in a conversation with Complex when she was asked about her Greatest Albums of all Time.
“I really love Wizkid’s Made in Lagos album, I feel like it suits every vibe, I can be cooking, I can be cleaning, I can be on the phone call,” she said.
“I really enjoy the positivity and happiness that comes with listening to ‘Made in Lagos’ I think it’s up there.”
