‘Made In Lagos’, the fourth studio album of Nigerian star Wizkid, has scored number one (1) on the Billboard World Albums Chart.
The album, ‘Made In Lagos’, was released on October 30, 2020, and it has since been gaining international recognitions.
Within one week of release, Made In Lagos broke several African streaming records; it became the first African album to debut on the Spotify Global Album chart, debuting within the top ten.
A month after its release, the album, which has now spent 41 weeks on the World Albums Chart, made it up to number two position.
The album also surpassed 100 million streams across five platforms nine days after release, a rare milestone for Afro-pop artists.
The track 11 off ‘Made In Lagos’, ‘Essence’ featuring Tems, rose to instant popularity following the release of the album, with the song adding to the prominence of the compilation.
In August 2021, respected Canadian singer Justin Bieber jumped on the song for a remix. The remade version earned number one position on Billboard world digital song sales chart on Tuesday, August 24.
‘Made In Lagos’ features British artists Skepta and Ella Mai, American R&B singer H.E.R., Jamaican artists Projexx and Damian Marley, and Nigerian artists Burna Boy, Tay Iwar, Terri, and Tems.
We expect Wizkid to drop the deluxe edition of the ‘Made In Lagos’ album on Friday, August 27.
