Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, profoundly called Tems, is the most-talked about female musician on the continent of Africa right now.
Tems has been soaring higher since the release of her collaboration on Wizkid’s global summer record, ‘Essence’ that was dropped as part of Starboy’s ‘Made In Lagos’ album in 2020.
The talented budding singer has scored herself two major feats in the music circles. First, Tems emerged as the first African female musician to surpass seven million monthly listeners on Spotify. Second, she has scored a major international collaboration with Drake.
Tems, according to Spotify, have amassed a total monthly listener of 7,016,476 as at the time of the streaming company’s announcement. The record came a month after she surpassed giant songstresses Simi, Tiwa Savage and Yemi Alade with six million monthly listeners on Spotify.
Drake also tapped into Tems’ beautiful and unique style by featuring the sonorous singer on his forthcoming album titled ‘Certified Lover Boy (CLB)’, the Canadian rapper disclosed creatively.
Drake displayed a billboard in the countries where artistes who he featured on the ‘CLB’ album live. The billboard announcing Tems’ contribution on the album read; “Hey Nigeria TEMS is on CLB.”
The ‘Certified Lover Boy’ album is expected to drop on September 3, 2021.
