Frank Edwards also known as FrankRichboy, is a Nigerian contemporary Christian singer-songwriter and recording artist from Enugu, Enugu State. Edwards is the founder and owner of the record label Rocktown Records. He is currently known as Nigeria’s Hottest Gospel rock artiste.
Early Life/Education
Frank Ugochukwu Edwards popularly called Frank Richboy was born in Enugu state on July 22, 1990 to a big family of seven.
Growing up was difficult for young Frank as he was usually hawking in the streets of Enugu. His childhood dream was to become a Pilot but he changed career path because he wanted to be more like his pastor, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome who loves to sing.
Career
He began singing at the age of ten. He learned to play the piano from his father when he was young. He started playing the Piano at the age of 10, inspired and tutored by his father.
The turning point of his career came when his pastor, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome after listening to the songs he had been recording asked him to sing in a Church Service.
His first album, ‘The Definition’ debuted in 2008 and was distributed by Honesty Music. He released ‘Angels on the runway’ in 2010 and ‘Unlimited’ in 2011 and subsequently, Tagjam in the same year.
In 2013, he appeared on Sinach’s ‘I know who I am’ live performance.
His album ‘Frankincense’ caught everyone unaware when it topped Beyonce and Adele’s albums within few hours of release on itunes album chart.
He has a record label, ‘RockTown’ which has produced a lot of musical talents including Gil Joe, King BAS, Divine, Nkay, Soltune, David and others.
He has worked with some of the biggest gospel artiste in the world, including collaborating with famous gospel artist, Don Moen in 2015.
Frank Edwards has revolutionalized the Nigerian Gospel Music, introducing a new and exciting blend of rock fused with a little pop and fuji.
He has been nominated for several awards including- Gospel Artiste of the year 2011 at the 6th annual Nigeria Entertainment Awards and Nigeria Gospel Awards, 2012.
In 2016, he collaborated with famous American gospel artiste, Don Moen on an album “Grace”. He is currently known as Nigeria’s Hottest Gospel rock artiste.
His latest album, Frankincense which feat Micah Stampley and Nathaniel Bassey got everyone wowed when it topped Beyonce’s and Adele’s albums within few hours of release on iTunes album chart.
