Nigerian musician Wizkid and budding songstress Tems have scored five nominations in the forthcoming 2021 Soul Train Awards.
The Nigerian superstars, Wizkid and Tems, got joint nods in the categories ‘Song of the Year’, ‘Video of the Year’, ‘The Ashford and Simpson songwriter’s award’ and ‘Best Collaboration’ for the single, ‘Essence.’
Wizkid scored himself a nomination in the ‘Album of the Year’ section for his groundbreaking ‘Made In Lagos’ album, while Tems was nominated for the ‘Best New Artist’ award.
‘Made In Lagos’, the fourth studio album of Wizkid, also emerged as the first African album to get nominated at the Soul Train Awards’ ‘Album of the Year’ category.
The Soul Train Music Awards is an annual music awards show which previously aired on national broadcast syndication, and honors the best in African-American culture music and entertainment.
2021 Soul Train Music Awards will hold on November 20, at the World-Famous Apollo Theatre in Harlem, New York. Tichina Arnold and Tisha Campbell will host the event.
