The prestigious Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is ready to roll yet again after a one-year hiatus.
This made the news today when the call for entry became a trending topic across social media platforms.
The award organizers called for entries that are in line with the awards’ guidelines. Entries are to be submitted between December 3, 2021, and January 14, 2022.
The categories of works eligible for submission are films, made-for-televisions movies, or television series if they were broadcasted, publicly screened, or exhibited from December 1, 2019, to 30 November 2021.
“Last year was indeed a tough one for the world with the global pandemic, however, the industry continues to thrive against all odds.
“We are proud of the improvements seen across different fields in the industry since the inception of the awards in 2013.
“The eighth edition of the AMVCAs once again demonstrates our commitment to spotlight the immense talent we have in the African film and TV industry and promises to leave a much bigger impact than previous editions.” – John Ugbe (Chief Executive Officer, MultiChoice Nigeria)
What’s New in the AMVCA?
Unlike previous years, there has been a new addition to the categories for the eighth edition of AMVCA.
The newly introduced category is ‘Best Online Social Content Creator’ and this category has been created to recognize the growing acceptance of creative content creators across Africa.
