Dowen College: Kanayo O. Kanayo sends message to Sanwo-Olu over Oromoni’s death

The murder of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old student at Dowen College in Lagos, has prompted outrage among Nigerian celebrities, who are demanding justice for the boy.

According to reports, Oromoni was bullied and beaten by her classmates. According to a Twitter user with the handle @perrisonoromoni, who claimed to be the child’s cousin, the boy died as a result of his alleged beating injuries.

However, the school refuted all charges in a statement issued on Wednesday, claiming that Oromoni was not bullied or abused and simply complained of hip pain after playing football.

Contrary to the school’s assertion, the victim’s cousin presented images and video evidence corroborating the fact that the boy was tormented and battered, which resulted in his death.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Government has ordered the indefinite closure of the school, pending the outcome of an investigation into the student’s death.

Following the closure, Nollywood star, Kanayo O. Kanayo has told the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, that shutting down the school is not enough.

The actor made this call in a video which he captioned, “Dowen college must pay for this #justiceforsylvester.”

In the video, he said, “The Governor of Lagos State, our own dear Babajide Sanwo-Olu. After the EndSARS protest and report, you have another challenge on your hands.

“The case of the 12-year-old Sylvester – your son – cannot be swept under the carpet. It is not enough to shut down the school.

“Do not – Your Excellency – Do not allow people take laws into your hands. It’s something that should be brought to book immediately. Thank you, Your Excellency.”

Still referring to the closure, actress Mary Lazarus said the next step would be to fish out the parents of the students involved in the act.

She said, “Next step: Fish out the parents of the students involved in the act. They must provide their children. If true that two of the accused have been flown out by their parents, they can be repatriated.

“Treat their parents specially because they are as evil as their children. They are the real culprits.#lettheinvestigationbegin #justiceforsylvester”

Celebrities like Mercy Johnson, Tonto Dikeh, and others have also demanded justice for the late child.

Other celebrities who have also lent their voice include Rachel Okonkwo, Comedian Lepacious Bose, Mike Ezuruonye, Ayoola Ayolola, Burna Boy, Davido, amongst others.
