Toyin Abraham, a popular Nollywood actress, and Nollywood’s box office queen have appealed to her fans to support Play Network and FilmOne’s new ‘Aki and Pawpaw’ remake.
Recall that the actress’ stated that her recent movie, the 2021 hit movie titled ‘The Ghost and the Tout Too‘ grossed N150 million.
This time around, Toyin Abraham has come out to solicit support for actors Chinedu Ikedieze and Osita Iheme, citing how much they deserve it as veterans who paved the way for the new generation, herself included.
During the interview where she made the statement, she pointed out clearly that soliciting for the support was in no way financially motivated while also pointing back to ‘The Ghost and the Tout Too’ and the recorded success of the movie.
There has been a couple of arguments on the low and unimpressive box office figures the Nollywood recorded this year, except for Funke Akindele-Bello’s ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga’ that made the wave. Knowing now that Toyin Abraham’s ‘The Ghost and the Tout Too’ also recorded that huge kind of success is a breath of fresh air.
Aki and Pawpaw back on screen
If you watch Nollywood well enough from back in the days, Aki and Pawpaw won’t be alien to you. They got enough screen time as much as comedy in Nollywood was concerned.
The duo is set to bring some fun and interesting memories back to our screen in the upcoming remake of 2003 classic ‘Aki na Ukwa.’
The remake will be directed by Biodun Stephen, starring familiar faces like Amaechi Muonagor, Stan Nze among many others. It is expected to premiere in cinemas on December 17, 2021.
