With the year coming to an end, a couple of Nollywood actors and actresses have come out to share their struggle breaking into the industry. One of those who spoke about struggle is Nollywood actress Linda Osifo.
The Benin-born actress moved back to Nigeria when she was 22, and while she tried to get into the Nigerian movie industry, she revealed that her biggest struggle was with her accent.
She revealed this in an interview with BBC Pidgin where she shared that she never got called back from auditions back then because of her foreign accent. Her accent, however, was expected of someone that has lived abroad for as long as she had, and it was no blame for those running auditions as well as originality was important.
She got her big break when she starred as ‘Tanwa Savage’ in the Ebonylife Studios’ ‘Desperate Housewives Africa.’
Her role in the TV series earned her a name as well as recognition as she went ahead to pick her first award in the Best Actress in a Television Series category of the Exquisite Ladies of the Year Award.
Linda Osifo has since then starred in a couple of other movies alongside respectable and prominent names in the movie industry, Kunle Afolayan Netflix Christmas original ‘A Naija Christmas’ being one of the most recent movies.
Linda Osifo also stars in ‘Tanwa Savage’ and the Uche Jombo co-executive produced ‘Devil in Agbada’ alongside BBNaija star Erica Nlewedim.
